A LIT MEME FOR ALL THE BOOK NERDS:
. So, you can read! Congrats!
Are you reading a book right now? How far are you into it and what do you think so far? If you're not, what was the last book you read and how did you feel about it?
I'm reading... It's called... "Firebird Rising" I think and it's an anthology of a fantasy/sci-fi stories and it's SO HORRIBLE I HATE IT.
. Do you have a favorite book? Do you have... a book you really liked, at least?
I have way too many books that I love that I couldn't pick a favorite. It'd feel like I was picking a favorite child.
. What would you say is your favorite genre to read? What to tend to steer away from?
I like to read darker psychological things... Like anything that deals with...schizophrenia or drug abuse or things like that. I like angsty stuff. What I stay away from is things with a female narrator, especially ones written by a woman orrr romance.
. Do you read more fiction or non-fiction/information books?
Definitely read fiction. Non-fiction annoys me.
. How about a favorite author, or perhaps a few?
I love Poppy Z. Brite, Chuck Palahniuk, Irvine Welsh, and Wally Lamb. And Francesca Lia Block.
. Have you read any terrible books? Something you'd recommend staying away from?
GOD YES. Don't read "Carry Me Down" by MJ Hyland. I HATE IT. I'm so passionate about how much I hate this. XD Seriously. It's like... The author tried so hard to make this unique MC but ended up just being so annoying and all the characters were totally unlikeable. I think that there has to be at least one character that readers want to sympathize with or like or...why read? I don't care what happens to characters I don't like or don't give a damn about. You know? /rant
. Do you reread books, or is once enough? Any exceptions so far?
I reread my favorites.
. What were some of your favorite books as a child?
I loved Goose Bumps. :3 And animal books. Like dog races kinda thing.
. Do you usually pick books from the kids, teen, young adult, or adult books? How old are you, if you don't mind?
Adult. I've begun to absolutely hate teen/YA books. I blame Twilight, I guess. And I'm nineteen.
. Do you buy books much or mostly just borrow?
Buy. I must have mooooaaar. D:<
. Have you read any books after seeing them in movie form? Which did you enjoy more?
Yeah. I always like the books better. Except for Requiem for a Dream. I think I liked the movie better just because it was a well-made movie.
. What about reading the book before there was a movie? How did you feel about the movie? Did you even bother seeing it?
NOOOOO.
. Do you read any other forms of literature aside from novels? Such as graphic novels, comics, (fan fiction???) etc.?
Graphic novels and some online fics.
. What is a book you want to read, but haven't yet? What intrigues you about it?
There's a bunch. It'd take me ages to answer that question. D:
. If you could rewrite the end of one book (or any other part, I suppose), which would you choose? If you were satisfied with every book you read's end, yay.
Hmmm... There's probably a lot but I can't think of any right now.
If you can think of one, name a book that made you:
- cry:
Dream Boy
- laugh:
Howl's Moving Castle
- think, in a deeper sense than the obvious:
One for Sorrow
- feel pure happiness:
Not sure if I have one here.
- become so addicted you put off everything in order to finish it:
Drawing Blood
- die of boredom:
Scarlet Letter
- learn something new:
A bunch! That's the good thing about reading. I can't think of specifics right now 'cause I fail.
- squirm with squickiness:
The End of Alice
- squirm with glee:
- very embarrassed to be reading it:
A Jeffrey Dahmer biography just 'cause it's awkward.
- angry:
Carry Me Down D:<
